Walasr Privacy

Last updated 13 October 2026

Walasr has no analytics, no tracking, no account and no crash reports. Your settings and cached prayer timetables stay on your Mac.

What leaves your Mac

  • equran.id (Kemenag, Indonesia): your province and city or regency name, month and year. Once a month, or when your location changes.
  • api.waktusolat.app (JAKIM, Malaysia): your JAKIM zone, month and year. To find your zone, your coordinates are sent once, rounded to about 1 km.
  • data.gov.sg (MUIS, Singapore): only the public dataset ID. Once a month.
  • api.aladhan.com (other countries, or as a fallback): your coordinates, the calculation method and the month. Once a month.
  • Apple's geocoder: your location, to turn it into a city name. Only when you press Detect or search for a city.
  • GitHub, for updates: the app version, once a day. System profiling is off.

Location

Walasr reads your location once, when you ask it to: during setup or with Re-detect. It never tracks you in the background.

Notifications and your screen

Notifications are local. The iqamah overlay is hidden from screen sharing and recordings.

Where your data lives

In ~/Library/Preferences and ~/Library/Application Support/Walasr on your Mac. Delete the app and those folders and nothing is left.
