Walasr's menu bar panel in Jakarta: the next prayer, Dhuhr, in 12 minutes, above the day's prayer times.
Prayer time panels for Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore, from Kemenag RI, JAKIM and MUIS.
The notch at the adhan, then the same notch counting down to iqamah with an ayah.
A dimmed, blurred Mac screen with a 3:59 countdown to iqamah in the middle.
After the adhan the menu bar reads Dhuhr, iqamah 5:57, and the panel switches to Now.
Iqamah settings: minutes per prayer and when the countdown starts and goes full screen.
Six panel states whose colours follow the sky, from Fajr to Isha.
The Walasr icon above the words: Free. No account. Nothing tracked.

I get absorbed when I work. Too often I'd look up from the screen and the iqamah had already been called. By the time I got to the mosque I was masbuk, joining the prayer late.

Prayer apps tell you when the adhan is. None told me how long I had until iqamah. So I made one that does.

After every adhan, Walasr counts down to iqamah. The screen slowly dims and blurs until it's time to get up. Hard to ignore, easy to snooze when you really can't leave yet.

What it does

  • Official prayer times: Kemenag for Indonesia, JAKIM for Malaysia, MUIS for Singapore, calculated everywhere else. Works offline.
  • An iqamah countdown in the notch or full screen, with the gap set per prayer.
  • Snooze, skip, a Jumu'ah reminder on Fridays, and pause for travel days.
  • Free. No account, no tracking.

The name comes from Surah Al-'Asr, the one that swears by time.
